This magazine was sold through school magazine sales as a fundraiser. The sales material printed this magazine to be for 9+ year olds. To my shock this magazine is very inappropriate for my 9 yr. old daughter who is really mature for her age. Articles on body image and how to get that boy to notice you are subjects for 13+. This is a teen magazine and should not have been promoted for girls 12 and under. I'm very disappointed with the purchase, and would not purchase it again.

This was magazine was given to my 10 yr old as a gift. Doing a little research it claimed it was appropriate for 10 yr olds! I was shocked when I handed the magazine over and then was bombarded with questions. "whats discharge mommy?" "why would anyone EAT it?" REALLY??? All magazines were confiscated after that. You need to change the age range this is recommended for if your going to put that stuff in there!
- Inappropriate For Girls
The content and pictures are NOT appropriate for girls. 'Girls' implies a young female, usually under 18 years old. This magazine shows young WOMEN in sexually suggestive clothing, and provides articles encouraging the ideology that females should "just stand still and look pretty." It really angers me!
When I was a girl and teenager in the 1970's, most of the media out there was telling me and my friends that we were just as smart and capable as the boy next door. Many of us became engineers, research scientists, computer professionals, financiers, production managers, etc. Now, with the help of this magazine and other media, and too many "toys" like dolls dressed as hookers, the girls these days truly think their brains are only good for reading, arts and crafts, and dressing sexy enough to get 'the boy.'
I am just so disgusted by it all!!!!! And, terrified for my 9 year old daughter!!!!

While most topics are applicable to a broad spectrum of teens (14 and above), it seems that black girls are under represented in their particular hair and makeup needs. Plus it would be nice to see Black, Hispanic, Chinese, Japanese, Native American, South Sea Islander, etc., girls on the cover too. White girls are beautiful, but no more so than other colors of girls.
My daughter loves this magazine.
My daughter, age 13, loves this magazine and just asked me to make sure she is still subscribed to receive it.
My daughter loves reading the magazine, but find little connection to self or other girls that look like her in the magazine.
Girls Life Magazine is filled with many interesting things. This magazine comes in handy. I LOVE readin Girls Life Magazine soooooo much. This is by far the BEST magazine iv ever read
We bought this for our 11 and 14 year old through a school fundraiser. Neither one likes the magazine. They both feel it is too shallow and heavy on teen pop stars. They find the fashions laughable. We won't renew this subscription.
My daughter liked the magazine but not enough to want to renew it.
the girls really enjoy getting this magazine in the mail.
