I did not grow up in the US, so I had never heard of this magazine until a year ago when I picked up several of them at a yard sale. I was so impressed I knew I would want a subsribtion for my future child. Now I am expecting and I am going to subsribe to it in advance. I am really looking forward to read it with my son. The magazine is full of good educational articles that also build a good character, teach manners, etc. It's very refreshing to see such wholesome material. It reminds me of the magazines I read as a kid growing up in Eastern Europe. The big plus of this publication is that it's age appropriate which is especially important nowadays when you see little kids exposed to adult stuff. Personally I want my child to have a normal childhood without the everpresent pop-icons, rap and movie stars.

My kids look forward to the mail
My kids fight over who is going to do the hiddens objects first. This is a great gift. Would not recommend unless they are readers.

my mother subscribed to this for me when i was a child. I enjoyed every page; from the articles to the activity sheets, loved the jokes and riddles. Now I have a son who is in the 1st grade but is reading on a 2nd grade level. I just had no idea how much it cost. Now that the price has went down, I feel confident to buy and know that my "baby" will appreciate it and have fun (without knowing hes learning)!
SO FAR MY DAUGHTER HAS ENJOYED THIS MAGAZINE, I KNOW I USED TO LOVE IT AS A KID.
The above con is very minor but it does make all the material a bit difficult to match up. However, it is an opportunity to display in an interactive way with a little forethought. My girls learn a lot and these materials guide us to teach our girls in a way we might not do and touch on subjects we might neglect.

Highlights subscription is awesome!
I enjoyed Highlights for Children magazine when I was a child and now I can relive the fun with my three children---20, 8, 6. The Hidden Pictures activity is one of their favorites. This is a great magazine for children 5-12.
It is amazing what you remember growing up. I loved getting mail and when the Highlights for Children would come it was always be a fight with my sisters on who would get to read it first. This is still true today. My two boys (8 & 9) can't wait for Highlights to come.
Everything in Highlights for Children magazine is good.

Highlights Magazine Video Review
I’m Nikki from Magazines.com.
Want your kid to have a break from his precious screen time but bypass the wails of boredom, and pestering his brother? Look no further than Highlights magazine. You remember it, right? That great activity magazine you got to work through when all your schoolwork was done. I know I went looking for it not to long ago for my kids, and I’m so glad I can introduce my guys to such a goldmine of entertainment!
Do yourself a favor. Your kids will be so consumed with Highlights’ puzzles and games that they probably won’t even realize it’s learning wrapped in fun – that they can do themselves!, Shh… That’s the sound of peace and quiet in your home.
Aside from all the fun that Highlights has delivered for generations, your kids will be also exposed to features on other kids from around the world. But perhaps the very best part of the kids’ magazine is its annual “State of the Kid Report,” which surveys kids on topics like bullying and , what they believe worries their parents, and even gender roles.
A magazine that makes your kids more aware of the world surrounding them AND gives you back some sanity is a win-win for everyone. Thanks for checking out my review of Highlights magazine and the current subscription discounts and offers on this great title from Magazines.com.
