I've subscribed to at least 4-5 knitting magazines since I started knitting 6 years ago, but Knit Simple seems to be the one knitting magazine I can turn to for most of my knitting needs, from quick projects to sweaters; from adults to kids. I often embellish some of the patterns to make them my own. Knitting sweaters in the round is my favorite way to knit, so I really appreciate these patterns in your magazine. I have made several of the sweaters to raise money for charity, such as the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life events in our town. There are fun kids projects that I've made for my grandkids: the black and white penguin sweater, the multi color arm to arm knit-across sweater, the turtle water bottle cover, etc. I've also learned some good tips over the years from the Knit Simple that are easy to follow for a knitter who learned to knit through reading.
Excellent magazine - great photos, lots of patterns, very detailed instructions.
Although ads are nice to see what's new for knitters, I'd like less in Knit Simple magazine. It seems like they buy ads from many manufacturers selling the same item! That said, I grab Knit Simple magazine as soon as I see it. The articles are interesting and informative. I've learned a lot just reading Knit Simple before I even attempted the knit patterns! The patterns are clear, and nothing in the magazine requires tons of attention or experience. These are the fun, relaxing knit-in-front-of-the-TV things that are quite lovely made up. It also gives me a chance to try new stitches or techniques on an easier project, and inspirational ideas for my own patterns and ideas. I like that they picture the items and then have the patterns in the back portion along with a reference photo. Teens and adults will definitely find plenty to create! Each volume has a very nice how-to segment, so you need only carry the magazine and your yarn and needles! You can reference the how-to section as needed. This is for beginner to intermediate levels, but I know a lot of advanced, very experienced knitters who use this magazine a lot. I recommend for all knitters, easier for beginners, but relaxing for advanced knitters. (Unless they're strictly a Vogue Knitter, which is usually way beyond my likes or concentration!)
I love Knit Simple magazine for its creativity and instruction. I've made many of the patterns over time and all came out very well. I love to knit, consider myself intermediate. You can learn from this magazine, too.
