About Ladybug

Each of the magazine's nine annual issues contains four recurring stories with charming characters, games, songs, and poems set against a colorful, engaging backdrop.

These regular stories include: "Max and Kate," which chronicles the everyday adventures of two best friends who are the title characters; "Mop and Family," a comic strip that follows the experiences of a brother and sister and their sheepdog, Mop; and "Molly and Emmett"--the longest-running serial story in the magazine--which keeps up with Molly and her mischievous cat, Emmett.

The newest serial, which was introduced in 2008, involves Ladybug, Muddle, and Thud, who play a dual role of appearing in the margins throughout each issue and are designed to draw young readers into the content. In addition to these original stories, nonfiction educational articles about nature and culture, as well as songs, games, and activities help introduce children to language and reading.

Like other magazines published by The Cricket Magazine Group, Ladybug accepts no advertising, so stories and illustrations can be enjoyed by parents and children with no additional distractions.

A subscription to Ladybug magazine would make a great gift for a young child who is at the appropriate age to develop a love of reading!

Great for kids!

By Stephanie

from Seattle, WA

My daughter loves this magazine! The poems, stories and illustrations are sweet and just the right length. Sometimes there is a fun activity to do as well. The subscription is worth the money!

Ladybug is a fun read!

By Kaylie's Mom

from NY

Overall, Ladybug magazine is a great read. My daughter is 6 and we are probably going to discontinue this and stick with Click (a little older content).

EXCELLENT even beyond preschool

By Mamala

from IL

Ladybug magazine continues to be one of my son's favorites--even at age 6 with an extremely advanced reading level (5th grade comprehension). He struggles with attention problems and creativity--so the shorter stories with larger print and bigger pictures give him reading that is enjoyable given his attention problems.

Very good reading

By Adury

from Undisclosed

Very lucid stories. Stories introduce different aspects of life, for e.g., social, cultural, emotional... my 4 yr old loves this magazine and is his favorite for bedtime reading.
