Using celebrities as its style inspiration, Marie Claire magazine also dishes on subjects women want to know more about, like career advice, best new book picks, and rising stars in Hollywood. In short, Marie Claire celebrates the intersection of intelligence, confidence, and sex appeal.

Regular features in the magazine include: "What We Love," a list of what's to love about the current month; "Behind the Cover," a behind-the-scenes peek at the cover girl's style and makeup; "Survival Guide," answers to common beauty questions; "Trend," which highlights an up-and-coming beauty trend; and "Shop the Shoot," style and shopping advice inspired by looks in the magazine. Marie Claire Magazine Subscription Review Video

Hi, I’m Christen from Magazines.com.

Marie Claire magazine is a smart magazine for women interested in more than celebrity lifestyles and trends. I always first turn to the magazine’s in-depth human-interest stories, like their recent article, “Faces if Hope,” where they featured women refugees from Bosnia. I also like that Marie Claire covers global women's issues; there’s been recent features on sex slave trade and infant mortality. These socially-conscious stories are well researched, well written and are always interesting. Whenever I pick up their latest copy, I always learn something new.

Another favorite feature of mine is the “Inspirational Women” column. The magazine features a host of women who have stellar careers. Whether it’s a profile on Kate Spade’s creative director, a Brazilian graffiti artist or a New York senator, I always feel empowered to continue to pursue my dreams.

They also devote a large portion of their content to money and career, which is great because I’m a career-minded person who’s not really focused on starting a family. It’s refreshing to find an interesting magazine that isn’t mom-focused or about “keeping house.”

Still, even though I most enjoy reading about women’s issues and other serious topics like the latest health news and relationship advice in Marie Claire, there’s ample fashion and beauty coverage. I am happy to say in the editors’ picks for trends and styles, all budgets and body types are well-represented.

I look forward to the monthly articles relating to women in different parts of the world. I also enjoy the fashion portions that actually show clothes that are worn by normal people rather than focusing on runway fashions which do not represent clothing available for wear for the normal female population.

Marie Claire has gone downhill with way too many advertisements. You have to flip through 50 pages of ads just to get to the index. There are only a few things to read. The majority of the magazine is advertisements or fashion pictures. I hate the magazine and do not recommend it to anyone.

The clothing advertised in this magazine is too expensive for the average person. The fashion models are not very attractive. There are interesting magazine articles to read.

      Great for Fashionistas

      By reader

This is a great magazine if you just want to look at pictures. It definitely feeds into the only thin women are beautiful and stylish, but that is their audience. The fashions are lovely.

      Mixed favorite.

      By Bebe

      from United states

Marie Claire is currently my favorite magazine. I love reading real news magazine articles and looking at up to date high end fashion and beauty. However, the editors need to decide who the audience is. It usually speaks to the modern professional woman, yet features photos and opinions of college freshman girls. I like that it does not speak to primarily older women like O magazine whose fashion is a bit baby boomer style, and that it doesn't speak primarily to mothers like Redbook, where I have to skip over all the articles and references to kids.

      Informative yet fun

      By Meenka

      from CA

Marie Claire magazine is lots of fun stuff to read, though not everything is real so you must know about fashion and what item look good on you. Good info about people and lifestyle in different parts of the world. Interviews are great and give good insight.

      Savvy read for smart women

      By Melabby

      from New York

Marie Claire is a smart magazine for women interested in more than celebrity trends. Their human interest stories are in depth and the stories I always go to first. I love that they explore women's issues globally but recently those pieces have been shortened and more puff fashion pieces are added. The fashion pieces lack focus and are the same run of the mill writing you would find in any other fashion magazine. Still, they have good, interesting content, and offer more depth than the average magazine geared towards women.
