Magazines.com Names Jesse Morgan Affiliate Marketing Manager

Jesse Morgan has been named Affiliate Marketing Manager, Nikki Getman, Group Director, Customer Acquisition announced today. Morgan will use her agency and marketing management experience to direct the Magazines.com affiliate marketing program.
As Affiliate Marketing Manager, Morgan will work closely with Magazines.com partners on media placements and promotions.
“We believe that Jesse’s unparalleled creativity, ethic of constant improvement and professionalism will be extremely valuable as we deepen and expand our affiliate relationships over the next year,” said Getman.
Most recently Morgan held the position of Assistant Online Marketing Manager at Magazines.com . Notably, she implemented enhancements to a sales channel, resulting in a 55% increase in conversion.

"Seductive Home" Author Moll Anderson Makes Exclusive Appearance at Absolution

Moll Anderson, a former Emmy Award-winning entertainment reporter, lifestyle expert for Magazines.com and author of the new interior design guidebook, The Seductive Home, will appear at an exclusive book signing at Absolution at the Mall at Green Hills in Nashville, January 26 from 4pm-6pm.
The Seductive Home is a 224-page, full-color hardcover book, in which Anderson guides readers to discover their own personal style and creativity in order to bring elegance, sophistication and even an indulgent sense of decadence to a home.

Magazines.com Names Nikki Getman Marketing Group Director, Customer Acquisition


Nikki Getman has been named Group Director, Customer Acquisition, Magazines.com VP of Marketing Joyce Shirer announced today. Getman will use her e-commerce marketing management experience to oversee the Magazines.com customer acquisition group, which includes email, paid search and affiliate marketing.
“As we position ourselves for growth it is critical that we streamline our customer acquisition efforts across channels,” Shirer said. “Nikki has an outstanding background of achieving record-breaking objectives and expertise in strategic execution that uniquely positions her to help Magazines.com reach our business goals. I am thrilled to have her join our team.”
Most recently Getman held the position of email marketing consultant at Magazines.com. Notably, she implemented a customer-focused approach using segmentation that doubled the email program revenue.
Previously Getman served as Associate Director of Online Circulation at Rodale, Inc. She successfully led a team that achieved more than 150% growth in online customer acquisition across the company’s magazine brands including Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Prevention and Runner’s World among others.

Magazines.com CIO Jeff Fields Elected to the Nashville Technology Council Board of Directors


Jeff Fields, Chief Information Officer of Magazines.com, the largest and the most dependable magazine subscription service on the Internet, has been elected to the Nashville Technology Council Board of Directors for the 2011-2012 term.
An affiliate of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Nashville Technology Council’s mission is to help the Middle Tennessee technology community succeed by being a leader in education, innovation, exposure, and facilitating community connections.
“I am honored to be on the Nashville Technology Council board of directors and to serve the members the council represents,” said Fields. “This organization has been successfully serving the more than 400 members of Middle Tennessee’s technology industry for 12 years, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members to keep the momentum going.”
Fields joined Magazines.com as chief information officer in 2010. As CIO, Fields oversees all information and technology operations for the organization, including website development and infrastructure management. Magazines.com Sponsors BarCamp Nashville 2010, Encourages Nashville Tech Community to Participate

BarCamps, held worldwide, are free, user-generated gatherings dubbed “unconferences” that feature discussions, demos and interaction designed for sharing and learning in an open environment. Last year more than 500 people attended BarCamp Nashville.
BarCamp Nashville 2010’s focus is “Getting to the Good Stuff” and features sessions created by some of the best minds in the Nashville technology community. Magazines.com Participates in Annual Pittsburgh Perl Workshop


Magazines.com, the Internet's largest magazine subscription service, announced today that its Assistant Vice President of Technology Cory Watson will be a featured speaker at the upcoming Pittsburgh Perl Workshop, a technical conference, slated for Oct. 9-10, 2010 in Pittsburgh at Carnegie Mellon University’s Oakland Campus.
Cory Watson will present a session called “Event Driven Architectures,” that will detail some of the new infrastructure that Magazines.com has been developing this year that is based on Complex Event Processing research and utilizes some technology from Moose, an object-oriented framework, to RabbitMQ, an AMQP Broker.
Magazines.com utilizes Perl for its web and systems development. The company’s development team is actively involved in the Perl community, contributing many robust Perl projects.
“I look forward to the Pittsburgh Perl workshop every year,” said Watson. “The conference gives me a chance to not only share what we’re doing at Magazines.com but to cultivate relationships and learn techniques that we can use to improve our business.”

Magazines.com Names Jeff Fields Chief Information Officer


Jeff Fields has been named Magazines.com Chief Information Officer, Magazines.com CEO and President Jay Clarke announced today.
"I am very excited about Jeff joining the executive team at Magazines.com. Jeff is a highly accomplished business technology leader," said Clarke. "He possesses a distinct blend of expertise in enterprise e-commerce, application development and data management. He is well-matched to continue the culture of growth and innovation that we have here at Magazines.com." Most recently, Fields served as CIO-Senior Vice President of SafeAuto Insurance Company.
Fields created an e-commerce delivery platform and organization that led to a significant migration of consumer revenues from offline channels to online.
Notably, under Fields’ leadership, SafeAuto Insurance was recently recognized by InformationWeek’s 500, which tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of the best-known organizations, as Masters of Technology for e-commerce implementation.
His achievements also include developing a direct to consumer strategy that included email, SEO programs, social media and blogs to drive traffic to the website. Fields also implemented a data warehousing solution that provided real-time analytics tracking and consistently achieved annual growth and productivity goals.

Magazines.com Participates in Enterprise LAMP Summit Technology Conference


Magazines.com, the Internet's largest magazine subscription service, announced today that its Vice President of Technology Bob Miller and its Group Director-Development Cory Watson, will be featured speakers at the upcoming Enterprise LAMP Summit, an open source development conference, slated for Nov. 5-6, 2009 in Nashville.
Bob Miller will present a session on leveraging open source tools and the business value in doing so. "We believe strongly in open source and leveraging LAMP to effectively achieve Magazines.com business goals," said Miller. For 50 years, Minnie Pearl performed as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. She was known for her trademark old-fashioned knee-length country dresses, her straw hat with the $1.98 price tag and her enthusiastic shout of "How-dee! I'm so proud to be here!"
By the time of her death in 1996 she was an American legend known for her humor, generosity and compassion. She was also a breast cancer survivor. In 1985, she was diagnosed with the disease and underwent treatment at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Of the experience, she said "Cancer can change your life at the drop of a hat. I know. It changed mine." Because breast cancer continues to change so many lives in the U.S. each year, Magazines.com, the largest magazine subscription service on the Internet, is partnering with The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation to support people affected by a breast cancer diagnosis.

"She possesses a rare blend of magazine circulation, consumer marketing and e-commerce expertise. Most recently, Shirer served as Senior Vice President of Circulation and Marketing for magazine and book publisher Rodale, Inc. Notably, Shirer led the circulation and marketing-related functions for the company and its nine magazine brands, including Men's Health, Women's Health, Prevention, Runner's World, Running Times, Bicycling, BestLife, Mountain Bike and Organic Gardening. Internet retailer Magazines.com launched a series of hard hitting holiday advertisements today on NBC, featuring Wanda and Bill Goldberg. The ads are a part of Magazines.com's holiday promotions, which invite consumers to take advantage of the e-tailer's magazine subscriptions discounted up to 90%, gift cards and gift subscriptions.
Wanda Goldberg, television host and former stunt woman, stars in the ad with a special appearance from her husband Bill Goldberg, former World Championship Heavyweight Champion. Wanda Goldberg is known for her role as host of "Doctors Foster and Smith's Faithful Friends," a 30-minute television show on Animal Planet. "Faithful Friends" focuses on educating pet owners on the health, nutrition and overall well-being of their pets.
