Nothing Like Its Namesake

I subscribed to MoJo based on their description of themselves as a magazine that'll take on all comers and dish out smack-downs where they're deserved. This is hardly the case. It reads like an ad machine for PETA, Al Gore, MSNBC, the DNC, and the Brady Campaign. If that's your fancy, then subscribe away. But, if you want to see both sides of the aisle get busted-out for their misdeeds and/or stupidity, keep looking.

Can't really afford it, but hate to think about not having magazines such as MJ & Nation.

Mother Jones for What Ails Ya

        By kc

        from PA

Mother Jones magazine is a great magazine for exploring topics that aren't covered in general news magazines, news broadcasts, or internet news, but relevant to people everywhere. It is like having your own roving reporter.

A few good kids Data Minefield D. Goodman

        By L.C. Walkin

        from Santa Cruz CA.

You've once again struck the head with a resounding THUD, but the picture is Priceless, you are only going to lose a few needed points for not making it front cover! Could this have been Dick and George coming up, Mr. I shot a wild turkey before I loaded my gun. Come on America lets get a snoot full and go hunting. One other bone to pick, I know you are not an entertainment guide but not a word about the upcoming blockbuster THE COVE, fearless are you, how about those young warriors. They make GREENPEACE look like they are funded by the Over FEDS. Lest I encourage a young man to drop a bill for dinner and a movie for nothing (not really a date flick) this observation is for free. A watcher by trade I did recently observe just off Pleasure Point Santa Cruz CA. a young far-eastern beauty you know the type long raven black hair in tight American jeans but it was the t-shirt that really caught the eye yes they were out for a walk if you know what I mean, or more like dancing just behind these words

        News with a capital N!

        By AlaskanPrincess

        from Southwest

If you only subcribe to one politics/news publication, Mother Jones should be it! If you subscribe to multiple politics/news publications, Mother Jones should be the first subscritpion entered. I've read Mother Jones off and on for years. You may not be able to 'go home again' but Mother Jones is always there. The myth of the 'liberal media' is JUST that - a myth. News is now dominated by the best sound bytes and owned by conservative conglomerates. Mother is the only publication I can think of that is still independent and offers articles as a result of investigative journalism. There are, however, limitations in news coverage - since this is published only bi-monthly, obviously day to day news can't be covered. Issues, policies, national and international - are the focus. Quite a bit of advertising, but much is relevent to the articles and focus of the magazine. My ONE frustration has been that once I've subscribed, at a 'special rate', that's been it for the 'special rate'. IF their renewals were at the same special, I'd probably have never let subscription lapse.
