A Completely Biased Magazine!

I would pick up a Motor Trend magazine now and then just to see what was new in the auto industry. After Motor Trend's comparison of the 2010 GTI, Subaru WRX, Mazda Speed3, and Mitubishi Lancer Rally Art, I seriously debate the validity of their tests. In this match up, the GTI was awarded first place! Yet the GTI posted the lowest 0-60 and 1/4 mile times out of the bunch. Not to mention that it was smaller than the other cars and had the worst braking distance. The reviewers said that it was so refined and felt like it was well engineered! Maybe that's true but performance wise, the GTI should have been in last place especially since it costs the same as the Subaru, Mazda, and Mitsubishi. Comparisons like this have led me to the conclusion that Motor Trend Magazine is biased and possibly takes bribes to choose the winning vehicle. The question is,

I really like Motor Trend. Of the other car magazines, I think they take more time testing vehicles and giving a person their money's worth take on how that particular vehicle performed for them. Based on all things they do for their vehicle testing I think it paints a better picture of real world performance the average consumer wanting to buy that particular vehicle might experience. I have been a subscriber to this magazine many years and the only thing that disappoints me is the ads. Some of them are several pages long. I think the space could be better used for more vehicle testing reports.

I’m here to talk about Motor Trend, one of my favorite automobile magazines. Its glossy pages are full of spectacular photos and easy to read print. It’s well-written, but not too technical, so the information will be useful to all readers. The main body of the magazine is composed of several articles that are first looks at a car, or possibly a comparison of several cars from a particular niche. These articles are very detailed reviews of the newest cars available.
Motor Trend has a good mix of the types of cars it covers. Some other auto magazines focus too much on the high-end cars that are out of my price range. The truth is that I like to read about these cars, but the more common cars are what I need in order to make decisions about future purchases.
One of my favorite sections is the (trend) section. It’s basically the Cliffs Notes of what is happening this month in the auto industry. While the focus of this section would be announcements about new cars or features, it also includes things such as legal or business coverage as it applies to the automotive industry.
Just as Motor Trend magazine starts out with the summary of the newest news, it is only fitting that it ends with a summary of the oldest news. The long-term tests are reviews of the magazines fleet of cars as they age, how well they have fared in cost of ownership and how the editorial staff still feels after spending an extended amount of time with them.
Overall, Motor Trend is an attractive, easy to read magazine that delivers the current automotive trends on a level that anyone can understand. I highly recommend a Motor Trend subscription for yourself, or as a gift for any automotive enthusiast.
