My father started me on my subscription almost 15 years ago. He looked forward to me selecting a new recipe out of each issue to prepare for him. He died of cancer 10 years ago, but I think of him every time I see the magazine. There have been some amazing recipes over the years, and others I didn't care to try. I am old-fashioned, and I don't want to look up recipes on-line. I like them in the magazines, along with the great articles and humerous anecdotes. Helpful, relevant advertisement and beautiful photography round it out. I have issues going back to the early 90's with my favorites dog-earred and well-loved. The price is attractive enough to give it a try. A worthy investment, and potential tradition in the making.

Needs more pictures

I love Bon Appetit magazine but it lacks pictures for many of the recipes. I don't know about anyone else, I want to see what the meal looks like!

    Some cooking magazines introduce flavors that are not for the American palate. Bon Appetit seems to take into account the tastes, regional in part though they are, of America.

        Bon Appetit has always been grocery store recipes. I preferred Gourmet. Since Gourmet folded last year I have subscribed to Bon Appetit and have found that the substance is improving in the articles.

        Good if you have time to sit

        This is an eye candy magazine for me. I have made a few things from it, but a lot of the recipes are time-consuming or call for ingredients that I don't have in the house. I do love the feature that shares restaurant recipes. Overall, I like this magazine for inspiration rather than for actual recipes.

        I tried it out to see if I would like the magazine, and love it! It is one of my very favorite reads and save each copy to refer to when someone I cook with asks me questions or I want to use some information or recipe that was in an issue.

        I like it how they start the issue from the letters of people who went somewhere and asking for the recipe of something they liked from the menu. I still didn't find anything I would cook in my kitchen. but if you are looking for inspiration for some upscale recipe - this magazine is for you! always nice pictures.
