As a kid in the 1960's I eagerly awaited the arrival of my Dad's next issue of Popular Mechanics. It was full of entertaining informative stories, like Gus the Mechanic. It had detailed instructions for home improvement projects, repair instructions for appliances, detailed owner reports on vehicles and so much more. I sadly just ended my current subscription, as there is barely anything in the current issues. I read the whole thing in about ten minutes, ignoring most of the irrelevant short blurb-type articles. It is truly sad what has become of a once great magazine.

I bought this subscription for my boyfriend and he really loves it! It was a great deal and a magazine that will for sure be renewed at our house.
Popular Mechanics is one of my favorite magazines. It has lots of information, well split between science, technology and automotive. It's got small projects that you can work on plus large projects you wish you could be part of.
What a great change from Popular Science, which may be popular but is almost always sound bites, not content. Popular Mechanics actually has reading material backed up with meaningful, descriptive pictures as opposed to only a picture with perhaps a paragraph of information.
