- Pros: Excellent assortment of challenging puzzles
- Cons: Skip the 1-star crosswords
My wife and I have been subscribers for MANY years and thoroughly enjoy each issue. Fortunately, our interests dovetail so that we each have favorite parts to work on! Great assortment of cryptic crosswords, including many varieties. The color-in logic puzzles described by another reviewer can indeed be challenging, but they ARE definitely solvable (sometimes you have to look beyond trivial techniques). Each issue also includes one major contest puzzle with a cash prize. Highly recommended!

- Pros: Looked like lots of complex "paint by number' logic problems
- Cons: but they were computer generated and NOT POSSIBLE TO SOLVE
I bought the May '08 'World of Puzzles'. It has 10 'paint by number' logic problems. They were the reason I bought this magazine. My husband and I are veteran logic puzzlers. Up until this purchase, we had never found a logic problem we could not solve. So far in this magazine, all the 'Paint by Number' puzzles we have tried are not solvable. There is no way ANYBODY could solve them. We know these puzzles as Japanese Logic puzzles, and are both quite good at them, but the puzzles in this publication were ...stupid. I can only assume they had a computer generate a grid drawing and count the filled squares and thought that was all there was to them. Did anybody at the magazine even try to solve them to see if enough information was given to make it possible? Even the easiest one, #1, is not possible to solve. If you like spending time on a puzzle only to find that there is no way, from the information given, to ever solve the thing, then this is the magazine for you. I was very angry to have paid for fake logic problems. I expected better from the magazine.

- Pros: Good variety, quality puzzles, contests
- Cons: Some puzzles are quite difficult
Good magazine, spin-off of Games Magazine. Used to subscribe to it, and I would now if I had the time. Good puzzles, many varieties, definitely not just sudoku or crosswords. You won't find mazes in here either. Quality of a puzzle at worst average. Aimed at probably a bit above average education wise, although the difficulties vary and they indicate degree of difficulty with each--some are quite tough, but a few are fairly easy. A few are more picture-oriented and kids may like them (I did before adulthood). Not many contests, and those are certainly not easy. I miss doing the puzzles. I will buy an issue every year or two to just see what's in the magazine. Again, wish I had time.
