Horticulture is a great magazine for serious gardeners, or those that want to be. I started my subscription when I started gardening ten years ago. Now I'm a Master Gardener (through my county extension office.) The things that I appreciate the most about Horticulture are: They always know what's going to be in your nursery a few months before you see it and want to take it home (so you know whether or not it will actually work in your garden). They teach you options for working with your backyard ecology and soil type instead of the impossible battle against it. They teach you how to prune, plant, fertilize, and control pests. This is a big step up from the garden section of a "home and garden" magazine. The photos in Horticultute magazine are beautiful, the illustrations are helpful and the Q & A sections are extremely helpful.
