• Pros: cover jewelry and lapidary techniques
• Cons: Sometimes forget the lapidary side

Jewelry Artist has been a favorite of mine for 30+ years. I did, however, stop subscribing when it became more art and less about lapidary. I am a jeweler and rock hound who makes wearable pieces. It was hard for me to see the need for jewelry that was not wearable. I am thrilled that they are going back to the basics.

Jewelry Artist magazine shows detailed projects. Each project contains a list of skills that you should have before trying it. It also contains tool lists. Ads are present, but are all related to the content and relevant.

We had found an older copy of the Lapidary Journal at Bookmans - used bookstore in Flagstaff, AZ. After reading it a couple of times, we realized we needed it. The magazine is really a good magazine for rockhounds wanting to make something out of what they find.
