Launched in 1984, by the National Geographic Society, National Geographic Traveler quickly gained respect by world-wide travelers. The society also publishes National Geographic, National Geographic Adventure, and National Geographic Kids. While the magazine does give coverage to popular tourist destinations, it tends to provide more information on more unique places. Usually the magazine includes a main overseas feature as well as at least one city within the United States.
