• Pros: An informative read.
• Cons: Fully half of the magazine is dedicated to plastic surgeons.

For $10.00, I want an authoritative magazine of substance and at first glance that's what I got when I read my first issue of New Beauty magazine. With subsequent issues I noticed a trend: this is an advertisement thinly veiled as a magazine. Each article is well-written, well-researched and backed up with the latest scientific data, something you don't find in your everyday cosmetics magazine article. What bothers me is the number of articles dedicated to specific products, always in the positive light, never a negative aspect. The reader can interpret that anyway they choose but I'm not comfortable with it. Further, as someone who is not a member of the medical profession and given the volume of space dedicated to the careers of various plastic surgeons, I am not willing to pay double the price of any other periodical for this magazine.
