• Pros: teaches many methods and tricks for painters

I have been painting for many many years; my mother passed away and left me her paints so I started teaching myself how to paint. I've used Paintworks magazine to learn. The patterns are easy to use if youre not good at drawing/sketching. When I first started out painting, the step-by-step instructions taught me about highlighting and shading for tole and decorative painting. I use the book for inspiration; I use the patterns on different objects (you don't need to use what is in the article) and even use different parts of different patterns together. I do have a tip for readers, if you do use the patterns they can be easily lost because you're so into your painting. So keep a box of the big Ziplock bags by your area and just pop the magazine/patterns into the baggy for protection and easy storage.

I have recently taken up craft type painting and this has been a wonderful addition to my education. There are different types of projects, all colorful, all attractive and all are something a person might want to try. The pictures of the projuects are helpful as well as shoing the finished project. There are photos of each step too so that you can easily tackle something more complicated than you might think you are capable of doing and have it come out perfectly. Makes a great gift for someone you know who does that type of thing. Very informative.
