One of the more inspirational Quilt Mags on November 04, 2009 by Suki from California

  • Pros: Diversified content
  • Cons: Not enough free patterns or kits of featured quilts

Quilter's Newsletter Magazine magazine covers all types of quilting: piecing, applique, Baltimore, historical, fabric art, landscape, crazy, photo, crafts, etc. It is good for someone who is looking for inspiration. It has fewer boring old-fashioned quilts than other magazines, so if copying Granny's quilts is all that you like, you won't like this magazine. If you are more creative and need new ideas, you'll love it.

Disappointed on May 04, 2009 by Lou from Kentucky

  • Pros: nice magazine covers
  • Cons: deceptive magazine covers, deceptive web bonus access

I am disappointment in Quilter's Newsletter Magazine as compared to past. The magazine now has no imagination and incomplete patterns. Why should I buy this magazine if I cannot access all of patterns? The magazine covers look very nice and seem that the magazine will contain great patterns but may only be one decent one. It has incomplete or difficult to understand patterns and after buying and bringing home to read, I wish I had not purchased and will not purchase again.

Ads Make Up the Bulk of Magazine on September 10, 2008 by AZonie from Chandler, AZ

  • Pros: Great pictures, but patterns need to be updated
  • Cons: Way too many ads. Not enough innovative designs

I would like to see this magazine get back to its roots by highlighting innovative patterns and a wider variety of quilt makers. In the last few years most of the patterns have been so ho-hum. I used to look forward to getting the magazine because it would inspire me to reach beyond simple patterns. Now all I see are simple patterns by the same quilters that mostly look alike. Further, many of the quilts lack the wow factor when it comes to color. I bet the contracted quilters are under such pressure to crank something out by deadline that they don't put a lot of thought into their work. I want to see blue ribbon quilts made by other people. One of the other reviewers pegged it right.....BORING. Sorry QNM, I will not be renewing you this year.

Pretty Boring on February 21, 2008 by isos24 from Virginia

  • Pros: Towards the end, there is a few pages of how-to info
  • Cons: Too wordy and boring

I've been quilting for about 3 years now and was looking for a magazine with a lot of great photos, how-to, neat tips, and ended up with a pretty boring magazine. If you are more into quilting news and not the how to stuff or what's new and cool, then get this. Otherwise, choose a different magazine. I have cancelled my order after receiving only two magazines. I tried to give it a second chance but it didn't work out.

One of the Best Quilting Magazines! on October 15, 2007 by Suzi

  • Pros: Broad coverage of the most creative quilts, new and old
  • Cons: Complete patterns are usually not included

New to quilting, and not really caring for boring traditional repetitive and plain quilts, this magazine offers the broadest information on quilting, in terms of history, various techniques, and basic how-to's to recreate the artist's technique on a sample block or two. Threre are also a lot of inspirational pictures and behind-the-scenes stories. I just wish they had bigger photos of the larger top art quillts so as to show more detail and texture.
