Go Back!!! on July 21, 2009 by Tip from Mid-West

Whoever decided to change the format of Reader's Digest a few years ago should be fired! What was once a great magazine is now absolutely awful. I miss the old Readers Digest and so do my friends. Bring it back. Please! I have let my subscription expire.

Very Good Magazine on April 19, 2009 by Elenita from Southeast Texas

  • Pros: Well-researched articles, funny jokes, inspiring articles
  • Cons: too many ads

Reader's Digest is interesting and has easy-to read articles. I started reading it in Spanish at my Grandmother's house and we switched to the French edition when we started French lessons together.

Reader's Digest on December 28, 2008 by selective reviewer from Ashland, KY

  • Pros: short and varied items
  • Cons: Way too many ads

This magazine has gone way too ad-heavy. The subscription price is outrageous for the content. With so many ads in the magazine, the price should be much less.

ABOUT READER'S DIGEST

The first issue of Reader's Digest was published in 1922 by a World War I veteran and his wife. In 1929, it was first put on newsstands and in August of 2005 published the 1000th U.S. issue. A typical edition consists of a survival story, a medical article, an achievement story, stories on human relations, several articles offering advice and a politically focused article. Reader's Digest tends to present a conservative, pro-American view. Also standard in each issue are comics, jokes, and puzzles. The richness and diversity of the Reader's Digest Magazine makes it one of America's great general interest publications. Reader's Digest is also available in a large print edition.
