  • Pros: zero
  • Cons: not the same magazine

I really do not enjoy the present format of Southern Living. It is really boring.

Must-have for Southerners on May 12, 2009 by Cindymouse6 from Tennessee

  • Pros: good tips on recipes, travel, home decor, event calendars
  • Cons: overcharges on renewals

Southern Living is a must-have for any Southerner. I LOVE this magazine--great info for families for travel, quick home meals, fabulous holiday decor and recipes, and helpful calendar of events. My favorite part is the back page--a story about being a Southerner and memories or traditions. I save them to share with my kids!

Diminished Quality on April 13, 2009 by Gardener from Massachusetts

Southern Living used to be my favorite magazine. I always found pictures, articles and recipes that I saved. In fact, for years I saved the entire magazine. In the last two years, it has changed drastically. The quality of the entire magazine has diminished. I have cancelled my subscription after four decades of receiving it. And I miss it!

Do Not Like the New Southern Living Format on April 03, 2009 by MiMi from Mississippi

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: The new version is pitiful!!!

I have been taking Southern Living magazine for years. I am so dissappointed in this new version. Some people think change is important, but that is not true in a lot of cases. I would not have changed my magazine unless I was getting a lot of complaints. Before the change I could not wait until my Southern Living came in the mail. I did not put it down until I had read all the recipes and marked the ones I wanted to try. Now they do not even look appealing. The magazine has just lost it.

What Happened? on March 21, 2009 by Garden Gram from Pennsylvania

  • Pros: Attractive Cover
  • Cons: Way too many ads--too little content

I'm a Southern vacationer and love reading about the beautiful and romantic South. After a few years of buying Southern Living magazine at newsstands, I subscribed. The garden articles, the recipes, the photographs and the magazine in general were top-notch. I gave a subscription to a friend as a gift and would tuck holiday issues in family gifts. But, in the past 2 years or so, something's happened--way too many ads and way too little content. I'm still drawn to the attractive covers, but once I open the magazine, I'm so very disappointed. I miss the excellent quality of past Southern Living issues.
