The Best Magazine You Can Subscribe To! on November 10, 2009 by Coxie from San Francisco Bay Area

  • Pros: Unbiased, world-wide coverage of current events and important economic and political issues
  • Cons: Never enough time to read it all before the next edition comes out

The Economist is by far the best magazine you can subscribe to if you want a fair and unbiased view of what is happening in the world. The articles are extremely well written, unbelievably current (they must write it as it is being printed), and offer a great balance of home and foreign issues. If you want to expand your knowledge and keep up to date with what is happening globally, economically, and politically then this magazine is without a doubt the way to go!

This Should be Required Reading on July 26, 2009 by Hail The Seminoles from Montreal, Canada

  • Pros: If I could read only one publication, this would be it
  • Cons: (nil)

I have been a subscriber of The Economist for 10 years and I think it is unquestionably the best news magazine on the stands today. The articles and content are first-rate and I don't know why more people don't read it each week. The cost is surprisingly low--$100 a year in Canada--so it's considerably cheaper than your daily newspaper. It is remarkably unbiased in its political views plus I appreciate the fact that they don't run lightweight articles. Subscribing to The Economist is a no-brainer for me.

Rhe global Paper of Record on June 25, 2009 by Alberta Man from Canada

  • Pros: expert reporting and analysis
  • Cons: not kid friendly

The Economist's authority is unrivaled. A copy of the Economist in one's home suggests that one is a sophisticated follower of world affairs. A libertarian or pro-business view can be detected in the magazine, but it may be better characterized as a skeptical and wry observer.
