Favorite Subscription on January 08, 2009
by Liss from Connecticut
  • Pros: The pictures are fantastic. Lots of decorating ideas.
  • Cons: The special editions in addition to the regular subscriptsions are too much of a repeat.

This was one of my favorite magazines (along w/ Real Simple and Organic Style). I think this magazine captured life as we want it today, focused on home and family and keeping life simple. It was a good break from the chaotic lifestyles we all lead and helps us set up our house in those homes that are not McMansions. I'm very disappointed to see it go.

Wonderful on August 24, 2008
by Elis from Washington
  • Pros: Really fun magazine
  • Cons: would like to see more smaller cottages

I really like it a lot I do wish they would have more different sizes cottages, I think they have a good concept they could kick it up a notch. The price is really great, I usually get it at the store but I may start a order for it.

Having a country home myself, I love this magazine. There are so many beautiful ideas for my interior, gardens, etc. Keep up the good work! and I will be a long-time subscriber.

Needs More Examples from the West and Midwest on December 08, 2007
by Katie from Front Range of Colorado, North of Denver
  • Pros: Beautiful and well-done, just right for baby boomers looking for a smaller home
  • Cons: Too focused on the Eastern part of the U.S. As usual, pretty much ignores the Rocky Mountain region.

This is a great idea for a magazine. Many of us are looking to move into a smaller, but very nice, home and this is the only magazine I have seen that addresses us. However, it (at least in the December 2007 issue), concentrates on the East Coast and pretty much ignores the rest of the country. Since the architectural styles differ a lot (there are very few cottages like those described in this issue in Colorado, even the one in Utah is an oddity, and the likelihood of finding anything like the Seth Peterson cottage designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is nonexistent), I would suggest that you include some mountain cabins (our version of the cottage) in your future issues.
