Great Gift on March 28, 2010 by anjilwing from Virginia coast

  • Pros: Lots of pics, memorabilia and well presented for any fan

I bought West Virginia University Football Vault as a gift for my dad's birthday; he LOVES it! This has so many articles, pictures and pockets of memorabilia that he still hasn't managed to get through the entire collection yet! I highly recommend for any true WVU football fan. In fact, I am ordering the Syracuse basketball vault for my hubby for HIS birthday!

ABOUT WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL VAULT

The West Virginia University Football Vault chronicles WVU football history, starting with the first game in 1891. Along with a story woven by West Virginia alumnus and longtime sports information official John Antonik, this scrapbook contains never-before-published photographs, artwork and memorabilia drawn from WVU's athletic department, campus archives and personal collections. Tucked into dozens of sleeves and pockets are reproductions of old game programs, historic tickets, numerous postcards and vintage photos. Fascinating replicas include an 1891 cast photo from the Shakespearean play that served as a fundraiser for the inaugural team, a 1919 program cover from the WVU-Washington & Jefferson game, the 1930 Pitt-WVU program cover, a 1940s-era pennant, a 1954 Sugar Bowl ticket and program cover, a 1969 poster showing artificial turf being installed at Mountaineer Field, the contract Don Nehlen signed when he became WVU's coach in 1980 and a 1983 biography card for quarterback Jeff "Hoss" Hostetler. No Mountaineer fan should be without this archive of West Virginia's football history.
