- Pros: Excellent cutting edge technology features
- Cons: May be too technical for new computer users
Leading technology magazine covering the what's new, what's predicted, and what's coming next with great in-depth articles. Certainly not designed for new computer users, this magazine caters to those working within technical fields and desire cutting edge information. Very stylistic design of covers and content layout. ABOUT WIRED
WIRED was launched in 1993 by Louis Rossetto and Jane Metcalfe. Today it is a publication of Conde Nast, a subsidiary of Advance Publications. Charlie Jackson, a software entrepreneur, and Nicholas Negroponte with the MIT Media Lab, were also behind the initial launching of Wired. Since its beginnings, Wired has received two National Magazine Awards for General Excellence and one for Design. Wired is said to be written from a libertarian viewpoint and originally it was inspired by the ideas of Marshall McLuhan, a Canadian Media Theorist. Sections include "Start: Technology. Business. People.", 'Play: Culture. Gear. Obsessions.", and "Posts: Dispatches from the Wired World." Readers might also enjoy Popular Science and Rolling Stone.
