I am always inspired to examine, expand, or enliven my collection when reading this publication. It is definitely for the hobbyist (vs. for professional geologists), which makes it more accessible for the average enthusiast. Pictures are excellent.
Rock and Gem is a great magazine subscription. It has all kinds of stories and help with ID's and places to hunt rock, minerals and fossils.
The articles in Rock & Gem magazine vary widely in scope and depth of information. A great beginning hobbyist magazine having kid's pages, travel and different locale stories and more detailed information on rocks, minerals, and gems. Scientific and craft articles hold one's attention and create curiosity in the process.
Rock and Gem is a magazine well written with accurate facts and information for the professional as well as the weekend rock hobbyist. The many articles written have an array of various subjects concerning the many rocks and minerals found in this country and others. Most of the articles are written for adults but an interesting feature of this magazine is that some articles are written for the future rock collectors and explorers of the word. Many projects include in-depth directions and are written for geologists and hobbyists.
I appreciate the articles in Rock & Gem magazine, as they appeal to the novice as well as those that are well versed.
