Overall I like Self magazine
Self magazine offers interesting articles and features along with scrumptious, healthy recipes and convenient workout techniques. Inspires a woman to be the best overall person she can be.
Self magazine is very effective for people who want to have information on beauty products, relationships, nutrition and exercise. I wish there were more nutritious recipes and information on fitness. Self also has good articles on women's safety and current events.
Self magazine is a great magazine for women. It offers good nutrition advice often written by Registered Dietitians, which is important to me. It also offers great exercise tips, recipes, and motivation to lead a healthy lifestyle.
For the busy woman, Self magazine is a quick read to stay current with women's issues.
I love Self magazine! I have been reading Self for years and I love it. The articles are really interesting and motivating. I love the workout and food guides. I also like how the magazine doesn't down-size like other magazines and make shorter issues.
Self magazine used to be such a great magazine. It used to feature only real women in its pictorials--no models/actresses/etc. The stories used to focus on health, nutrition, etc., leaving the clothes and makeup to the fashion magazines. In the past decade, the magazine has done a complete 180, with its editors publicly justifying their airbrushing of singer Kelly Clarkson on the grounds that they help their cover models.
I love reading Self. It has a lot of good information especially in the health, beauty and fitness flashes. The articles are from women who have experienced many things in their lives. The best part of receiving Self is having something new to look forward to every month. I look forward to finding ways to improve the way I live.
If you look on the cover of SELF magazine, you will notice a pattern of articles that are continuously addressed in every single issue..."Great new work-out", "How to improve your s*x life", "Best make-up and hair tips". It just seems a bit redundant to me. I do, however, appreciate that they are encouraging women to live a healthy lifestyle with reasonable expectations and goals.

Hi, I’m Kara Gause. As a busy wife, writer and mother of twin daughters, I love that there’s an entire magazine devoted to me, me, me that doesn’t actually make me feel like a narcissist!
SELF magazine tells me it’s okay to focus on me so that I can take care of the people I love. Being a mom of toddler twins, that’s been a hard lesson to learn—to take care of myself. But no joke: That’s what SELF does. It celebrates the whole person, the whole self, not just the best ways to lose weight like, say, maybe Shape. I mean, yes, I wanna have better arms, but maybe I’ve gotta multi-task a bit to get there.
So give me 8 tricks to shrink fat cells. Bring it! The workouts in SELF are great, varied and there are a ton of them. The magazine’s also really dedicated to good food and great recipes without the obscure ingredients. Sometimes I think SELF loves food more than I do! Bottom line: I feel like Self is always teaching me something new about taking better care of myself.
