About Taste Of Home

First published in 1993, Taste of Home features color photos of every recipe, plus cost-saving meals, healthy-choice dishes, casual entertaining ideas, and more in every bimonthly issue. Many of the magazine's recipes are reader-submitted, which give each issue the feel of a trusted cookbook.

Very little editorial content comprises the magazine, as the majority of the content comes from recipes, which include everything from appetizers, entrees, sides, and desserts to easy food crafts that the kids can help make. However, seasonal and holiday menus are an occasional highlight, along with entertaining ideas and recommendations. Each issue features a young child and his or her interest in cooking, along with a favorite recipe and short profile.

Throughout the year, Taste of Home publishes several special editions typically devoted to seasonal foods or holidays, which include: "The Comfort Issue," "The Celebrate Issue," "Back-to-School/Halloween," "Thanksgiving," and "Holiday."

Cooks looking for recipes that have already been put to the test would enjoy a subscription to Taste of Home magazine!

Taste of Home Magazine Subscription Review

Hi, I’m Krystal from Magazines.com.

For more than 20 years, Taste of Home magazine has been the premiere cooking magazine in my home. As someone who believes in the importance of making home-cooked meals for my family, I love that Taste of Home provides me with so many delicious recipes each month.

The magazine is filled with home-style comfort foods that have been passed down from generation to generation, as well as new recipes that are sure to delight young and old alike. Because Taste of Home is comprised of recipes sent in by home cooks and tested by culinary professionals, I feel confident that I can easily master each tried-and-true recipe. And since the recipes feature normal, everyday ingredients, I never have to worry about rushing to a specialty store to find a rare ingredient.

The colorful photos and step-by-step instructions guarantee that the recipes will turn out perfectly every time. Taste of Home provides a cooking community for cooks of all ages. Each magazine is filled with helpful cooking tips, recipe favorites from field contributors, and advice from culinary experts.

Each bi-monthly publication centers on a particular theme. In February and March, there are special Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter recipes. In April and May, there are features for spring entertaining, bridal showers, grad parties, Memorial day grilling, and Cinco de Mayo celebrations. In June and July, the theme centers on Father’s Day grilling recipes, 4th of July favorites, and recipes from every state. In September and October, the magazine features back-to-school recipes, Halloween recipes and crafts for kids, and Labor Day recipes. In November, Thanksgiving features such as the complete holiday baking guide and make-ahead Thanksgiving meals take center stage. And in December, the theme revolves around Christmas and Hanukkah recipes and traditions.

Many of my family’s favorite recipes have come from Taste of Home. That’s why I can’t wait for my new issue to arrive in the mail each month. There’s also a sister company called Simple & Delicious that has great, easy-to-prepare recipes which are ready in minutes.

Feel free to check out our current Taste of Home magazine subscriptions deals at Magazines.com, and thank you so much for stopping by Magazines.com. Don’t hesitate contact us with any questions you may have. We’re always here to help!

What happened to Taste of Home?

I do not like the new Taste of Home format. The Old format was so much better. What happened to it?

Taste of Home magazine was once the best cooking magazine on the market. I gave subscriptions of the magazine to my friends and family. I looked forward to each issue. For reasons unknown, it underwent big changes a little over a year ago. The changes were similar to changing a cooking magazine to an electrical how-to book - that's how much it changed. I cancelled my subscription before it ran out because it made me so sad and frustrated each time an issue came in the mail. I have no idea what the publisher was thinking when they made the changes. It's my guess that they simply WEREN'T thinking. Please do not waste your money on this magazine.

I found that after awhile, the recipes seemed repetitive, and that many, unless you were a master chef, were not really doable. This mag became less for stay at home moms looking for simple yummy meals, and more for individuals who can spend their days, and bank accounts, at Whole Foods tracking down rare ingredients.

    Worth it purchase

I like this magazine's style! I enjoy flipping through it and find that the pictures and recipes are very efficient. It is short and to the point, not overcomplicating things like many other magazines do. I would recommend this as the recipes I have made were very good.

    Taste of Home subscription

    By Shasta's Girl

    from Pennsylvania

I've had a great romance for 15 years with Taste of Home magazine, but sadly that romance has ended because of the legal drug pusher Reader's Digest. They are notorious for drug ads in their magazine! I'm sorry but I don't have a need to be stressed out reading about health problems and what medicine helps, when I'm reading a food magazine. I don't mind the food ads {and recipes}. Their pictures are actually more vibrant {looks like real food} and colorful {the plating of the food} than the TOH food photos. I remember when TOH use to take vibrant and colorful photo's with their food. The food displayed now for their photo's have a shiny unappealing glaze that has a look like plastic and served 99% of the time on a white plate, with a white background{no creativity & boring}. We're not stupid subscribers!

Not what it use to be

    By Queenie

    from Mississippi

I used to subscribe to Taste Of Home magazine a few years ago and loved the folksy style and recipes. The new Taste of Home is more modern with recipes that have lots of ingredients! I don't mind the advertising so much, because it is just a necessity these days. I will not renew my subscription when it ends because of the recipe changes.
