About Vegetarian Times

First published in 1974, Vegetarian Times was one of the first vegetarian food magazines in America. Educational and engaging in nature, content in the magazine is presented without judgment or even subtle persuasion toward non-vegetarian readers, many of whom turn to Vegetarian Times for healthy recipes and information on detox diets.

Popular sections in every monthly issue include: "1 Food 5 Ways," which features one ingredient with five delicious recipes that employ it; "Eco-Beauty," foods that improve your skin naturally; "30 Minutes," a collection of recipes that take just a half-hour or less to prepare; "5 Ingredients," drinks, apps, entrees, or sides that require only five things; and "Shopping Resources," a guide to locating the foods and products featured in each issue.

Throughout the year, Vegetarian Times devotes space in issues to seasonal or holiday recipes, such as Thanksgiving or Christmas. Meals that make use of the freshest summer produce, for example, are also a popular topic in the magazine.

Vegetarian or not, anyone looking for healthy recipes or meat-free meal ideas would find plenty with a subscription to Vegetarian Times magazine!

Vegetarian Times Magazine Subscription Review Video

Hi. I’m Christen from Magazines.com. Vegetarian Times magazine isn’t the only publication catering to meat-free eating, but it is one of the few devoted to that dietary lifestyle. However, even if you’re a non-vegetarian, there are still plenty of good eats for you too!

The magazine features a wealth of recipes in every issue that holds obvious appeal to vegetarians. But even carnivores will be wowed by appetizing dishes like fresh veggie pizzas and omelets, delicious vegetable sides and flavorful salads.

Vegetarian Times puts the perception to rest that being vegetarian equals a limited or boring diet. For example, the “1 Food 5 Ways” section in every issue takes the guesswork of figuring out new ways to enjoy those carrots, arugula, or broccoli. They have useful tips for everyone, vegetarian or not.

And the magazine’s nutritional value goes way beyond a standard listing of fat grams and calories in each dish. Updates on the latest health studies and natural remedies are regular topics in its news section. While plant-based diets and their benefits are promoted by the magazine, it isn’t done in a preachy or condescending way towards veggie lovers who haven’t gone meat-free.

There’s a lot of reasons to pick Vegetarian Times, but maybe the biggest is that its content is welcoming and insightful regardless of whether you eat meat or not.

If you love food and cooking then I definitely suggest checking out the current Vegetarian Times subscription deal going on at Magazines.com.

I am not a vegetarian yet but am eating more healthy. I have tried many new items based on references in this magazine. For the first time in my life I made polenta lasagna. It was great. I can modify the recipes as I need. I also signed up for offers from the advertisers and get coupons for products like veggie wash. Bob's red mill is great and I can get it and Hodgson's mill products in the grocery store. The only thing I do not like is complicated or weird ingredients that may be hard to get. I even eat tofu often now and this magazine opened my eyes for how to cook it. Thanks VT.

This is one of my favorite magazines. By far my favorite food/cooking magazine. And this isn't just for vegetarians. This magazine is great for anyone who wants to learn to cook healthier meals. The recipes in this magazine are superb. A lot of times, they seem very strange, but the best recipes I've tried are from this magazine. They always surprise you how well the flavors work together. It will definitely get you to expand your palette. The articles and writing are very easy to read. It includes a lot of variety. There are some short blurbs, and some full articles, and they are appropriately mixed. The topics are very relevant and informative. Even the ads are great. The ads in this magazine are ones you won't see in other magazines. They are very relevant, with lots of health foods and health products. Overall, this magazine is great. You won't ever regret purchasing it. Its very pleasant to read, great recipes to try, and its just the right length -- long enough so you stay interested, and short enough that a busy person can finish it every month.

This is a great magazine for those new to vegetarianism or just looking for new recipes. I do think it is a bit small for the cost and wish they would add on a few pages of their wonderful recipes. Have read it for years, though, and keep several recipes out of each magazine that inevitably become favorites.

I only wish it was a monthly magazine. I would enjoy reading it more often. Twelve issues per year would be better than six.

I did not care for this magazine because I felt that the prep time and ingredients of most recipes were too complicated.

the magazine is good overall but needs more recipes and less adds. Also wish there were more quick fix recipes that require less prep time.
