More about Cooking Light: Cooking Light was first published as a small column in Southern Living magazine, before publisher Southern Progress decided to launch the magazine in 1987. It has become one of the most popular cooking magazines in the market. The focus is on healthy eating and living. Cooking Light features approximately 100 recipes in each issue, making the magazine a standout in the cooking genre. Nutritional information is included with each recipe, so you know the amount of calories, fat, protein, fiber, carbohydrates, cholesterol, iron, sodium and calcium contained in a dish. Recipes typically have less than 30% of the recommended daily amount of fat and are also low in salt. The magazine also features a number of articles in each issue on exercise, as part of the healthy lifestyle promoted in Cooking Light. Other topics include travel, shopping and gift ideas. Articles also feature highly acclaimed chefs, expert insights and cooking techniques. Southern Progress Corporation also publishes Coastal Living, Health, Sunset and, as mentioned, Southern Living.

Everything for Healthy Living on May 28, 2009
by NursinGirl94 from Madison, WI
  • Pros: Nutrition for recipes, credible, LOTS of recipes, workouts
  • Cons: None

I TRY to live a healthy lifestyle and provide that for my family. Cooking Light has truly yummy recipes that I don't ever have to worry about if it's healthy or not. I don't have time to read 5 other magazines on beauty and fitness either so the stories on working out, fitness, home and beauty are just perfect for me. This is the only magazine I look forward to each month and absolutely will not share!

A Collage on May 04, 2009
by Raymero from Washington State
  • Pros: very good on the recipes
  • Cons: I do not like the non-cooking content

I subscribed to Cooking Light for what the cover advertised: light cooking. I prefer to buy other magazines for my fashion, gardening, exercising and travel needs and I do not appreciate these topics in the magazine I purchase for cooking information.

by LindaJB from San Clemente
  • Pros: Well detailed instructions. Variety of dishes and menus.
  • Cons: About 30% advertistments

I look forward each month to it's arrival. I have tried and been successful with the receipes I've tried. Most receipes are reasonable in lengh and I would recommend this magazine to anyone who likes to cook.

Worth every penny on January 29, 2009
by steelerfan1 from Altoona, PA
  • Pros: great-tasting healthy food, not preachy, moderation key
  • Cons: nothing!

There aren't many magazines I read cover to cover but this one I just can't put down. Not only that but I REALLY USE this magazine! I almost always find a recipe that becomes a keeper for my family and it sure feels good knowing that I'm not serving fat-laden dinners to the people I love. :) I like that they don't jump on the next new diet bandwagon. It's about moderation. The photos are gorgeous. A few more of them would be okay but what I see now still makes this a worthwhile purchase. The quick and easy meals are always popular for me. I have very little time to cook and these come in handy.

love the variety on December 01, 2008
by MPD from South Florida

This is a great Magazine; it offers healthy options without going to extremes. This is definitely not rabbit food! This magazine has appeal for the general public. The photography is great, & the travel articles highlight accessible locations for the normal traveler.
