- Pros: High price
- Cons: Nothing
My husband and I have really started getting into cooking. We love Cook's Illustrated magazine because it provides in-depth articles on a variety of cooking subjects. I like their column that breaks down a particular food and determine which brand not only is the best price, but the best quality as well.

I am fairly new at this cooking 'game' and so far have made mostly the ethnic recipes my mother used to make; mainly recipes from European, Slovak and Hungarian heritage. The challenges presented are much to my liking but I do not have any written recipes so it's been difficult for me to get the desired results, just as my mother used to make. What I'm leading up to is that I would like to see perhaps one ethnic recipe, per issue, done in the manner of all the other recipes in Cook's Illustrated, an outstanding magazine. I have made the blueberry muffins from the May 2009 issue and I have received raves as to the texture, flavor and appearance.

- Pros: Indepth articles and terrific recipes
- Cons: no color photography (if that's important to you)
One of the best magazines ever published for cooks who want to why recipes work or don't work. Great product reviews and interesting articles. I have every issue published since 1993 and refer to them all the time.
