Needs to Make Changes on July 25, 2009 by Jen from Palmyra NY

  • Cons: Not changing with the times

I have been a subscriber to Country Living since 1992. I still love the photos and articles. I would like to see less ads and more twists, with fresh ideas for these hard times. People cannot afford to decorate like they used to. I stopped collecting many items I love. I just, use what I have in new ways. I am not excited anymore when Country Living magazine arrives. I used to read it cover to cover. The real country living is easy-going, homey and not expensive. I had to change my old ways.

Good Deal for Price on July 14, 2009 by Cottonlily from SC

  • Pros: Beautiful photos
  • Cons: Lots of Ads

With Country Living you get what you pay for. We only pay a buck per issue; the advertisers probably pay dearly. You can tell who wins. But for $1 you can't beat this magazine - even if you only find one idea you like in the whole thing. Some of the decorating ideas tend to be very specific - you have to find each particular item to recreate the project. I feel that it's much more 'Country Hobby' than 'Country Living.' I was expecting it to be more genuine. But all in all I recommend it and I enjoy getting my issue every month.

Longtime Reader of Country Living on June 03, 2009 by Granny from USA

I have been reading Country Living magazine for years and years. I really enjoy it. The new editor is doing great, but I miss the last page of the old magazine. I really looked forward to the last page because of the beautiful picture and the neat saying! I hope Country Living will bring it back.

You get what you pay for - and its a bargain on March 25, 2009 by RI Reader from USA

  • Pros: eye candy
  • Cons: repetitive

When you subscribe to a magazine, you are typically getting an issue for about $1. Country Living is certainly worth this, and more. Like many reviewers, I liked the magazine better a few years ago when the ideas were fresher. Shabby chic was more popular. Now with 1950/1960s modern being a more popular style, it appears the editors are hard pressed to come up with new country ideas. But the magazine gives me an hour of entertainment and sometimes some really good ideas. This is certainly worth $1/issue. I can't think of any other form of entertainment that is less expensive, even TV, when you consider the cost of hardware and cable. Keep subscribing or Country Living will go the way of so many other magazines lately.

Too Many Drug Ads!! on March 22, 2009 by Renata from USA

  • Pros: Good content, enjoyable to read
  • Cons: Too many ads that hawk drugs, dangerous to people

I love Country Living; I've gotten it for years and will continue. My only complaint is the drug ads. I take a wallpaper knife and remove all the drug ads and their disclaimer page and recycle them.
