- Pros: Nice eye catching covers
- Cons: Gossipy
I loved Essence magazine when Susan Taylor was involved in it. It has lost its appeal with her departure. It's more like a gossipy girl magazine now. I will not renew my subscription.

- Cons: No cons
Not just for the well-educated as some has reviewed, Essence magazine serves a wide spectrum of issues and topics mainly, but not limited to, the African American community. I have been reading it since I could read and it is still a part of my regular reading.
