Love me some Rolling Stone on January 17, 2012 by Pandora from Falls Church, VA

  • Pros: Extremely insightful longer articles, in touch with music, politics and culture
  • Cons: Sometimes pages are very content heavy, almost busy

I can still remember a piece I read in a Rolling Stone issue some 15 years ago; it's one of the reasons I decided to become a writer. The pieces will entertain and enlighten, and some part of the material will stick with you months after you read it. Whether the writers are covering a well-known subject, or one that's just emerging, you can't help but be impressed by the way they get to the heart of the matter, asking questions and getting details you wish you could remember to do if you ever found yourself in these same situations or in front of these same subjects. Reading these articles is probably the closest I'll ever get to some of these topics and people, and in the writers' capable hands, I'm fine with that.

Good mix of music and politics on December 10, 2011 by jeremia179 from Seattle

  • Pros: music and movie reviews
  • Cons: left leaning liberal slant

I have always enjoyed this magazine and remember when my father was a subscriber. The political articles tend to reflect a definite liberal slant, but if you can get past that it's fine.

I'm an old member of the counter-culture circuit of the sixties and so have been subscribing on and off (mostly on) to Rolling Stone since the early 70's.
