More about Sunset: Sunset Magazine is great source for people who live in the west. Sunset Magazine started in 1898 by the Sunset Limited railroad line. Its purpose was to convince people living in on the East Coast, that life in the west was suitable for upstanding families. The first issue was 16 pages long, and told stories of the wonders of Yosemite and the gorgeous, garden-filled streets of Los Angeles. Today, Sunset has regular articles such as "Best Places to Live", "Your Sunset", "Best of the West", "From the Editor", "Window On the West", "Heart Smart", "The Directory", "Western Wanderings". Other informative sections you'll find are travel and recreation, garden and outdoor living, home and design, food and entertaining and a recipe index.

Learn about the West! on December 09, 2008

This is my favorite magazine, and I often give it as gifts. This magazine is regional. There are about 5 regions. The Sunset I receive in Colorado, is not the one my dad receives in California. I wanted to order 2 gift subscriptions on this site, but saw no way to differentiate and be sure that they would be the Rocky Mountain region of the magazine.

Even after my family moved to the east coast we continued our subscription! Although I wish I could find a comparable magazine focused on the east coast.

This is one of those magazines that just never goes 'out of style' - you know, like National Geographic. What a delight, to either just scan through or when time allows, spend more time reading articles. Inspiring too. Who doesn't want to undertake home/garden/culinary projects after thumbing through an issue of Sunset?? p.s. I've just placed my first order thru this website - so far, so good. I'm impressed that a credit card isn't required; the one thing I was hesitant about was ending up in some eternal renewal cycle - that won't happen. You can process order via snail mail and avoid that risk!

I love all the great features that this magazine is loaded with. It reveals everything from great eateries to hidden vacation hideaways that are within a day's reach (if you live on the west side). I love how it's a 3-in-1: food/dining, vacation getaways, and home design. When you think about it, there really is no other magazine you need. This has everything that makes the West Coast so great!
