TV Guideless on November 03, 2009 by Unhappy TV Viewer from SC

My local newspaper stopped publishing a local TV listing so I subscribed to TV Guide. REALLY?! Where are the listings for daytime and nighttime? Not just prime time. What is the actual channel number? If I wanted an entertainment TV gossip rag, I would buy it. I want a simple but complete TV guide for my area.

Not What it Used to Be on September 02, 2009 by HomeJudge from California

  • Pros: Still includes some TV listings
  • Cons: No daytime listings, no late nite listings, shallow show descrips.

TV Guide had a unique magazine--in its old format. It was the best of all competing options. Genuinely focused on TV show listings. It was compact. Easy to use. Comprehensive. They tried to become something they weren't -a celebrity rag. Now they are the worst of the worst - all around; skimpy TV listings and 2nd rate celeb gossip rag.

I Used to Like New Format But... on August 21, 2009 by Mulligatawny from USA

  • Pros: Quick articles; Fun reading
  • Cons: Every summer issue has been a double issue

I'm honestly surprised to read that people still subscribe to the TV Guide for TV listings. It definitely does a poor job of that, but I don't subscribe for that reason. I like the magazine because of the quick articles and informative pieces on stars in shows I enjoy. It reminds me when my new seasons are starting and lets me know of new shows coming out. With that being said, the double issues they have been doing all summer are doing me no good. Double TV listings but only a single issue's worth of articles and columns is very disappointing. I'm considering not renewing because of this. Otherwise, I enjoy the magazine.

Barely A on August 20, 2009 by Rickjs from New England

  • Pros: It arrives on time
  • Cons: Mostly Crap

If, like me, your local newspaper doesn't have a weekly TV listing, then TV Guide won't help. Listings are incomplete and often wrong.

People Magazine with Incomplete TV Listings on July 12, 2009 by Wally from Homestead, Florida

  • Pros: Good highlights section
  • Cons: Very poor program listing

I bought TV Guide magazine mainly to see what is on TV. The magazine's program listings are poor. There are no local listings. Subscribers in New York, Atlanta, and Miami get the same magazine. Channel numbers cannot be listed, only network names such as CBS, NBC, Fox, etc.
