Love this Magazine! on May 06, 2009
by Momo from Illinois
  • Pros: Lots of interesting ,unique recipes
  • Cons: Too many ads

When I first received Gourmet it was a Christmas gift from my mother. I liked it so well that she continued to get it for me as a Christmas gift until she past away in 2007. I received a few more issues after her death.I have almost every issue that she purchased. Out of all the copies I have, only one was displeasing to me. It had print on the front cover, which ruined the whole it for me. I would recommend this magazine to anyone who has a love of cooking, creating and uniqueness. It always brings good memories of my mother for me. She never discouraged my love of cooking. Even at the young age of 7 when she would allow me in her kitchen to make the evening meal. To receive Gourmet as a gift from her speaks from the heart.

  • Pros: different recipes
  • Cons: advertising

I actually enjoy this magazine quite a bit, they offer a wide range of different ingredients and have unusual recipes that I find fascinating. They understand that food should be progressive; not the same steak and potatoes. Food encompasses all senses, and this magazines touches everything with their recipes. They're not thinking strictly of taste; they want the best texture; aroma; w/e. These recipes are for the adventurous eaters, not the timid ones.

Expected More on February 11, 2008
by mc from ny
  • Cons: Contains many recipes I would not cook.

This magazine is not one I'd pick up to find a recipe that I'd feel confident I can make for a group of people and they'd enjoy. The recipes are too exotic for my style of cooking.

Waste of paper! on February 03, 2008
by Zeroxmom from Buffalo Grove, IL
  • Pros: Attractive photos
  • Cons: Ads, Ads, Ads, foods/food combinations I wouldn't want to eat

About 18 years ago, I really liked this magazine. It was a bit stodgy but not bad, and there were recipes I actually saved to make. Now, it is simply un-readable...the photos are nice but the graphic design? Ugh. Very difficult to look at. Too much advertising. I once pulled out all the ads and found I was left with a very THIN magazine. There are other cooking magazines that are far better.

why i don't receive gourmet after 30 years on December 26, 2007
by terry from Scarsdale, New York

I feel the magazine is not relevant to my lifestyle anymore. The travel articles are good. The recipes are terrible. No one would want to eat half the stuff you print. What happened? I used to love your magazine. I even bought the christmas issue on the newsstand and was not inspired to make one dish. P.S. I am 52 and feel your magazine has gone to a totally different direction.
