National Geographic Traveler subscription on November 17, 2011 by pho from US

  • Cons: Too short of articles.

I was hoping for more travel friendly advice. Its short blurbs about certain destinations. Nothing too in-depth or thrilling.

Good Historical Angle on May 06, 2011 by BoxDatRox from Oregon

  • Pros: Great pictures, in depth articles, good reviews (food lodging)
  • Cons: Articles can be a bit long--thus fewer articles per issue

Great photos of destinations, articles that offer a few places at the destinations to eat and lodge (though the lodge suggestions don't appear to be for Budget-Minded travelers).

Helpful hints for certain travel on November 08, 2010 by TravelGirl from Maryland/ D.C.

  • Pros: great writing, captivating photos
  • Cons: a little heavy on European travel; not the best on cheap, independent adventures

National Geographic Traveler magazine has some truly great, unique features, including a section on innovation (usually green travel amenities being developed), calendar of events of note around the world, and special articles like the best of tour travel. It does not quite step in to fill the gap left by the folding of its sister magazine, National Geographic Adventure, and most of the travel is on a mid-sized budget by well-seasoned travelers with cars, usually interested in staying in a relatively small area to really get to know it. Like I said, interesting reading, but only the occasional way to incorporate it into a limited budget targeted at seeing an area for the first time.

Great Info on April 21, 2010 by Missiongirl from Chicago

  • Pros: great info and pictures, thought provoking

National Geographic Traveler magazine is a wonderful read with fabulous photography. The articles differ in length for varying read time. There are generous amounts of information to make good decisions on vacationing possibilities. Amazing out of the way places, most people would never learn about. I don't know where to vacation next.
