Hi. I’m TV and Radio host Patricia Lopez here to tell you about what’s new with Newsweek magazine. If you haven’t picked up an issue lately, you’ll probably notice quite a few changes. The recent transformation Newsweek has undergone is amazing! This is not your grandfather’s news magazine anymore. Tina Brown, the magazine’s new editor, has breathed new life into a magazine that not too long ago wasn’t sure what the future had in store.
It seems clear to me that the new editor-in-chief is using her experience at more pop-culture centered magazines like Vanity Fair and The Daily Beast to give Newsweek a more modern flair, including a greater focus on visual design. For example, the magazine opens with the News Gallery, three consecutive spreads of photos from around the world with short stories. It’s a great way to read about hard news because pictures are worth a thousand words.
The content is also much more provocative. Instead of continuing to directly compete with Time magazine, Newsweek’s content seems to be rivaling People magazine and Us Weekly—with gossipy headlines and angles. Despite the shift to a more pop-culture feel, overall, the quality of writing and reporting is still there and some things haven’t changed. It is still a reliable source for U.S. and international news. And also still covers current events and special reports on hot topics like child obesity, sustainability and women in leadership.
I really like the “new” Newsweek Magazine and think they’ve found a great balance between what we’d usually refer to as real news and pop-culture. That makes for a magazine that really has broad appeal no matter what your interests are. Thank you so much for checking out our Newsweek Magazine subscription deals today at Magazines.com.

Pros:
None
Cons:
Leftist bias with snarky New York attitude
I cancelled my subscription because Newsweek is a prime example of leftist bias in the news media. Only buy this magazine if you are a hard core Neo-Marxist with fascist tendencies who likes biased news coverage with a snarky New York attitude.

When Sydney Harmon died after buying the magazine, it could easily have died a sad death, but it's getting better with each issue. I especially like its coverage of art and culture, as well as pure news. I just hope it doesn't get too
